Day in the Life Squadron Section Commander (CCQ): You assist the squadron commander in the day to day administrative and disciplinary issues of the unit as well as promote morale and welfare to squadron personnel. EPR/OPR tracking and squadron programs are under your responsibility and late evaluations are a big "no-no" in the Air Force. The commander's support staff (CSS) typically works directly for you and on average is made up of 4 enlisted personnel who you rate and supervise.

You work closely with the first sergeant and commander on disciplinary issues such as LOR/UIFs and Article 15s. It will be left up to the squadron commander whether or not you are on G-series orders which give you command authority to hand down non-judical punishment to enlisted members (most CCQs have command authority).

You will work with other base agencies such as the MPF, JAG, and HAWC to name a few

Typical Day:

Early AM: Arrive at work, check and answer e-mail, meet with the NCOIC of the commander support staff (CSS) and discuss squadron administrative issues such as late EPRs/OPRs,WAPS testing (if the season), fitness program, MILPDS, etc...

Late AM: Review EPRs/OPRs, awards and decorations, letters for commander's signature, etc...

Lunch/gym time: Usually a hour for lunch or 1 1/2 hours if you go to the gym. Lunch is a good time to network with other junior officers.

Early afternoon: Meet with the commander and first sergeant to discuss squadron disciplinary issues.

Once a week squadron staff meetings will cover mostly administraive issues which you are in charge of.

Late afternoon: Visit JAG or MPF on legal issues or personnel programs. This is also a good time to make rounds in the squadron and visit with squadron members.

Depending on your squadron's mission typical hours are from 0700-1700
